FOOD AND SHELTER

The Yawkey Foundations have a long-standing tradition of supporting organizations that provide food, shelter, and other basic needs to the homeless, and those at risk of homelessness, with a particular emphasis on assistance to children and families.

CHILDREN AT-RISK

The Yawkey Foundations have a long history of supporting organizations and programs that address the needs of the most at-risk and vulnerable children and young people in our communities who do not have adequate support at critical stages in their lives. This initiative serves organizations that work to ensure the healthy emotional, mental, and social development of children and young people at-risk with an emphasis on residential programs.

CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Yawkey Foundations support organizations and programs that provide services such as education, recreation, and social skill development to children with physical and mental disabilities who would otherwise not have access to such programs.

MENTORING

The Yawkey Foundations support organizations that offer high-quality, structured mentoring programs that provide guidance, support, and encouragement for disadvantaged young people. Each year, the Yawkey Foundations will award a select number of $10,000 grants to high-quality mentoring organizations that provide mentoring programs to disadvantaged youth, have an established track record of youth service, and demonstrate proven outcomes. This initiative targets mentoring organizations that help mentees access services and support rather than provide those services for him or her.

YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION

The Yawkey Foundations support organizations that offer meaningful and constructive activities to high-risk middle and high-school age youth who live in urban areas impacted by violence. This initiative seeks to support organizations that have an established track record of youth service and a demonstrated ability to increase the self-esteem and leadership skills of the young people they serve.

DISADVANTAGED ADULTS

The Yawkey Foundations support organizations that assist disadvantaged and underserved adults with a particular emphasis on single parents, adults with physical and mental disabilities, and vulnerable seniors to help them move towards greater independence and self-sufficiency.
